You have become proficient with nunchaku and have stopped hitting yourself with the foam training pair that is falling apart from use. Time to move faster and harder with the Octagon Speed Nunchaku. What makes them so quick? The durable red oak hardwood handles of these chucks are thinner, which allow them to whip through the air with incredible speed.
The grip of the human hand differs from that of octopus tentacles in that it isn't a perfect circle. This shape of chuck handle is a traditional Okinawan octagon design, so the angled cut gives a better grip than a cylindrical handle. The attachment cord is very important, as it keeps this martial arts weapon from becoming a projectile. Leave that to the ninja throwing stars! This red oak set of nunchaku is strung together with three black nylon cords that are expertly tied to each end and come with about a 3-inch connection. That means you can restring the 'chucks to your liking, provided you can retie them securely
The top end where the cord touches is smooth, so the movement of the weapon won't be hindered by the angled wood shape. The smaller diameter of about 3/4-inch is perfect for smaller hands, and these sets come in two lengths. You can get a 10-inch or 12-inch pair, and so think of how long you want the range of your strike to be. These wooden speedchucks are ready to be whipped around as fast as you can safely manage. Going back to a normal pair after some practice will illustrate the difference in how fast you can get this kung fu weapon to move!
